Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver is a young adult book, which follows Samantha Kingston being a senior in a Connecticut high school. Sam and her posse enjoy Cupid Day, and later go to a part at Kent’s place. No one knows what will happen on that car ride back. The car in which Sam and her friends are in hits something or someone, and Sam dies, but the next day Sam is reliving Cupid Day, you follow Sam for a whole week of reliving the day in which she dies, she tries to figure out why she is stuck on Cupid Day, and does just about everything. It takes her seven days to make everything right, and when she does, she isn’t afraid of dying (for the third time at least).
This novel is Oliver’s first but is well written and when you start it, you won’t want to put it down! I would highly recommend this book to any teenager or young adult. Oliver does a great job playing Sam, you almost feel as if you are one of Sam’s friends and know and feel what is going on in the book. I hope that this book is just mark the beginning of Oliver’s books and I hope to see another one just as good as this one within the upcoming years!
